It’s A Done Deal! Martin Lawrence & Will Smith Announce “Bad Boys 4”

Sony have finally decided to shoot the fourth film in the series

Like they never left, The Bad Boys have returned! There will be a fourth movie, as Martin Lawrence and Will Smith announced earlier today on Instagram.

The Bad Boys franchise’s producer, Jerry Bruckheimer, had already stated clearly in December of last year that “Bad Boys 4” will be made and that the controversy surrounding Will Smith’s slapping of Chris Rock at the Oscars wouldn’t have any bearing on the production.

Sony, along with Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, have officially announced the latest installment of the saga.

Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah’s “Bad Boys 3,” which had a $90 million budget, was released in theaters in January 2020 and made $426 million in total revenue. A sequel was anticipated for this huge success.

Now, ‘Bad Boys 4’ has been officially announced by Will Smith in a video uploaded to Instagram in which we see him going to his friend and co-star Martin Lawrence’s house to share the good news with him.

“IT’S ABOUT THAT TIME!” wrote Will Smith alongside the ad. The latest instalment of the buddy-cop action comedy has also been confirmed by Sony Pictures, with the film currently in production, with the script written by Chris Bremner.

The franchise began in 1995 with the release of the first Bad Boys movie, and since then, two sequels, Bad Boys II (2003) and Bad Boys For Life, have been produced (2020). In April 2022, Michael Bay shared a story about the origins of the Bad Boys franchise while promoting his final film, “Ambulance.”

The filmmaker explained that Sony was initially unconvinced of the potential of the first ‘Bad Boys’ for casting two black actors as the lead in an action film, which turned out to be a masterstroke. Detectives Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett are movie icons, with ‘Bad Boys 4’ already on the way.

Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, who also made the third instalment in 2020, are returning as directors.
