The Voice coach Kelly Clarkson shared a significant update about her music activity last night before she took the stage for her performance at the 2023 iHeartRadio Music Awards.
The daytime TV host informed her Instagram fans in January that she would be releasing new music in 2023. Following the posting of a photo with the emojis of a wine glass, a broken heart, and the sun, Kelly is now providing more specific information.
But the real piece of news came the next day when she announced that the name of her next album and its meaning. “All right, y’all. So, it is officially time to tell you,” she said in a video uploaded on March 26. “I’ve been working on this project for, well, close to three years now, and I wasn’t sure if I was going to release it. But I am, and the album is called Chemistry.”
Fans of The Voice reacted positively to Kelly’s audio update when they learned that it was almost ready to be released on streaming services. Naturally, they expressed their delight at seeing her release new music on Instagram.
“Suddenly chemistry is my favorite subject!!!!!!” one person wrote in the comments section. “BUT WHEN [DO] I NEED TO CLEAR MY CALENDAR,” another begged. “I GOT GOOSEBUMPS OMG I’M SO READY AND EXCITED AND I’M GONNA CRY,” a different user added.
Kelly’s return to singing is accompanied by much joy, but it is also deeply emotional as a result of her divorce from Brandon Blackstock. She had a purpose in calling the upcoming album Chemistry, as she explained in her video announcement.
“I was trying to find a word, it might be one of the songs on the album, but I was trying to find a word that really described the whole thing,” she said in the Instagram clip. “I didn’t want everybody to think I was just coming out with some ‘I’m angry,’ ‘I’m sad’ — just one or two emotions. This album is definitely the arc of an entire relationship.”
She also revealed a summer music residency at the Bakkt Theater at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas, running from July 28 through August 19, to cap off a weekend full of disclosures.
As she wrote on Instagram, the 10-show engagement will feature Kelly performing her most popular hits along with some new songs from her upcoming album. What’s more, open up to the general public starting on March 31 at 10 a.m. PT/1 p.m ET.
