Stonebwoy, a dancehall superstar, makes it clear he has no plans to slow down with his fifth studio album. According to him, “There’s no other name that could adequately describe my fifth studio album,” he tells Apple Music.
“In the space that I find myself, I want to continue to contribute to my culture, and my time, and my generation. The fifth dimension goes beyond the physical—it goes into the astral; it goes into the spiritual. It deals with all aspects of emotions and thoughts. This is vibration; this is levels; emotions; this is waves,” Stonebwoy stated.
He enlists Stormzy for the album-opening track, “Life & Money” which was released April 28th and he’s certainly hit the ground running. The tune quickly succeeds because to Stonebwoy’s faultless vocals, suave afrobeats, rich orchestration, and snappy melodies. On his verse, Stormzy works his magic, giving the song a fresh layer of texture. A music that is as sincere as it is upbeat is served by the wisdom shared by both artists along with lyrics about happiness, thankfulness, and wishing the best for everyone around them.
Over the course of the album’s 17 songs, he has repeatedly demonstrated that he is confident to diversify his sound. While performing “Apotheke” with South African superstar DJ Maphorisa, he even ventures into amapiano territory, showcasing the same enthusiasm he uses on his signature dancehall-inspired records(Afro Dancehall).
He refers to his new Def Jam release “a renewal of his artistry,” the Afro-Fusion artist likens his “next level” or new phase to being “a very skilled driver and a talented driver” in a recent interview with NATIVE.
“There is nowhere you cannot drive to, except cars don’t go. This is the next level, this is the next destination that I am carrying the whole musical vibes to, which I refer to as the fifth dimension.”
The body of work which features Stonebwoy’s signature reggae dancehall sound, also includes appearances from an impressive roster of artists like Angelique Kidjo, Shaggy, Mereba, Tiwa Savage, Oxlade and Davido.
The release party was on the 28th of April which saw 40-year-old Jamaican who apparently is in Ghana for a mentorship programme attended the event with his Ghanaian wife Alyshia Miller Powell. Others such as Ghana media personalities, Journalist, Actresses and actors and dancers, industry players and the co-operate world were in attendance.
