On July 26, 2023, Jonilar.net and Digishare Africa hosted a groundbreaking event on digital music education, which will be remembered as a significant turning point in the history of music and the creative arts.
The event was led by the Honourable Kofi Iddie Adams, Member of Parliament for the Buem Constituency in the Oti region. Artists, educators, business executives, and other stakeholders who are all committed to restoring the creative arts sector in the Oti Region came together at the event.
The purpose of the digital music education event was to provide people with the skills and knowledge they need to take advantage of the opportunities presented by the digital era in the field of creative arts, with the goal of stimulating innovation and empowering aspiring artists.
Hon. Kofi Adams emphasized throughout the ceremony the value of music and the creative arts in creating a society’s cultural fabric. He remarked on the wealth of talent present in the Oti Region as well as its untapped potential for growth and recognition outside. The next generation’s creative potential must be actively developed while conserving traditional art forms if his vision of a healthy creative ecosystem is to be realized by artists, educators, and stakeholders.
Following the event, stakeholder engagements provided a forum for in-depth debates and brainstorming sessions on developing comprehensive policies to promote the creative arts and music sector. The panels featured a variety of viewpoints, and the audience members provided their opinions on potential funding sources, infrastructure improvement, and strategic alliances with both public and private organizations.
Hon. Kofi Adams reaffirmed his commitment to implementing the recommendations and input obtained from the stakeholders, ensuring that their voices play a crucial role in forming the landscape of the region’s creative arts. He stressed the significance of creating an inclusive, long-lasting framework that values variety, supports artists, and establishes the Oti Region as a thriving center for artistic expression.
The process of reviving the creative arts and music industry has begun, and stakeholders, educators, and artists working together will definitely make a lasting impression on the cultural character of the Oti Region.
