Ghanaian dancehall artist Shatta Wale is facing legal repercussions after being ordered to pay the organizers of the Wildaland Festival $120,000 plus interest and GHC $20k in damages.
When popular dancehall performer Shatta Wale didn’t appear on stage at the much-awaited Wildaland Festival in Ghana in 2021, accusations surfaced against him, even though he had been paid a total of $120,000.
Following the festival organizers’ legal action, the reggae/dancehall star was ordered by the court to refund the entire amount, plus an additional $10,000 in interest. In a recent ruling, the court also mandated the artist to pay GHC20,000 in damages to the festival founders for the breach of contract.
