Ghanaian dancehall artist Shatta Wale is facing legal repercussions after being ordered to pay the organizers of the Wildaland Festival $120,000 plus interest and GHC $20k in damages.

When popular dancehall performer Shatta Wale didn’t appear on stage at the much-awaited Wildaland Festival in Ghana in 2021, accusations surfaced against him, even though he had been paid a total of $120,000.

Following the festival organizers’ legal action, the reggae/dancehall star was ordered by the court to refund the entire amount, plus an additional $10,000 in interest. In a recent ruling, the court also mandated the artist to pay GHC20,000 in damages to the festival founders for the breach of contract.

This legal development highlights the potential repercussions for performers who neglect their performance commitments, highlighting the significance of accountability within the entertainment sector.
