Jamie Spears, Britney Spears‘ father, had his leg amputated a month ago, according to TMZ, and there is hope for a father/daughter reconciliation.
According to TMZ, Jamie got a huge infection in one of his legs that kept him in the hospital for weeks. After five unsuccessful procedures to treat the illness, physicians determined that amputation was the only option.
Jamie’s situation is not good. Along with other illnesses, he has been depressed by the outpouring of criticism on how he handled the conservatorship, which he believes to be incredibly unfair. Recall that in 2007, Jamie was the one who relocated from Louisiana to take care of his daughter.
Many of the people who were there at the time believe Jamie might have saved Britney’s life.
According to TMZ Britney has softened toward her dad recently. There have been times when she’s said she misses her dad, and once even talked about sending him money to help him out. And as for Jamie, sources say there’s nothing he’d rather have than a reconciliation with his daughter, and harbors no ill will.
The pop star also invited Jamie Lynn to the party, but she was unable to attend because she was out of town. Britney, by the way, is interacting with her sister. Bryan, her brother, did join in on the festivities throughout the weekend.
