Hayley Erbert On A “Long Road Of Recovery” After Undergoing An ‘Emergency Craniotomy’
The remaining tour dates have been postponed and Derek is updating fans on what’s going on now. He explained she had a hematoma from a burst blood vessel and “required an emergency craniectomy,” adding that she is “in stable condition.”
Derek Hough is providing an update on his wife Hayley Erbert‘s condition after she was rushed to the hospital following a performance this week. Dancing With the Stars judge Derek Hough stated that his wife Hayley is in “stable condition” after she was hospitalized and underwent an “emergency craniotomy” on Wednesday.
Hayley underwent emergency brain surgery after their tour performance on Wednesday (December 6). She was “diagnosed with a cranial hematoma from a burst blood vessel and required an emergency craniectomy,” Derekshared in his first update to fans.
“At the end of last night’s tour performance in Washington D.C., my wife Hayley became disoriented and was taken to the hospital,” he wrote on Instagram. “She was diagnosed with a cranial hematoma from a burst blood vessel and required an emergency craniotomy. She is in stable condition.”
Hough continued, “I want to thank the first responders and medical personnel who have cared for and continue to care for her. I ask for your prayers and positivity during this time.”
Dereck said, “Words cannot express how grateful and thankful we are for the support and love that you have given us. The kindness that we’ve been shown in this incredibly unfathomable, and life changing time is immeasurable. The offers of assistance that have poured in have been so humbling and appreciated. Our hope is that as a family, we can somehow and someway pay it forward.”
“Hayley has always inspired me with her will, her strength, and her resilience and no more so than in the last 48 hours. She is now on the long road of recovery,” Derek shared in a statement on Friday (December 8).
Hough and Erbert embarked on their current Symphony of Dance tour in September. Following his announcement, the couple’s friends quickly took to the comments section of the post to wish Erbert a speedy recovery.
Derek‘s sister Julianne Hough has spoken out for prayers amid the scary time.
“Praying for you guys,” Kevin Jonas wrote, while Jenna Dewan added, “Prayers and love for you both !!!”
“Focusing all my positivity and well wishes directly toward Hayley,” DWTS season 32 star Xochitl Gomez noted. “She is a shining light.”

Hough and Erbert first met when she joined the So You Think You Can Dance tour in 2013, but sparks didn’t fly between the pair until she joined the DWTS team years later. The couple, who got engaged last year, officially tied the knot this August.
