If you’ve ever seen the show Botched, you know that plastic surgery can sometimes go horribly, horribly wrong. Filler looks lopsided, implants move out of place, people have bad reactions to Botox. But what happens when a plastic surgeon posts pictures of their work–and thinks it actually looks good?
Plastic surgeon Dr. Kim has become the talk of the internet after his before and after pictures went viral on social media. Through his TikTok account @jiezou16, Dr. Kim has posted dozens of videos showing his clients before and after he performed plastic surgery on them. The results have been… well, shocking to say the least.

One patient, identified in the caption as a 57-year-old woman, is shown in one of his videos before and after receiving a facelift. In the video, she can be seen tugging at excess skin on her face and neck, presumably unhappy with her appearance. The video then cuts to the woman after surgery, her face now slimmer but distorted and mask-like in appearance. Stitching can be seen along the hairline of her scalp, and her eyes look swollen and bruised. Her skin has a sickly color to it, and she looks like a completely different person.
She’s far from the only patient to undergo such a transformation. In another video, a 58-year old man shows the before and after of his facelift. In the beginning, he looks like your average 58-year old man–slightly wrinkly, skin slightly sagging. The video then cuts to seven days after surgery, where he looks almost identical to the woman from the video. His sutures can be seen at the hairline and his eyes look like swollen holes that are a completely different shape than they were before.
Now, one less-than-ideal result would normally not be a major cause for alarm. After all, what we want to get out of plastic surgery doesn’t always match the end result. But even taking into account how soon the photos were taken after the surgery was performed, the results are consistently… off-putting, to say the least. Dr. Kim’s entire TikTok is full of videos of patients who go in looking normal and come out looking bizarre.
Needless to say, social media has some strong feelings about Dr. Kim’s work. Few commenters were impressed by Dr. Kim’s work–most expressed horror at the pictures and insisted the patients demand their money back.
He should ask for refund. Ngl pic.twitter.com/XJOJ3JMfbb

Nevertheless, Dr. Kim continues posting videos on TikTok, where’s he’s amassed over 114K followers and 2.5M likes. While some of the comments there are positive, the flood of negative comments suggests that many of his followers may be watching out of morbid curiosity. After all, from tornadoes to brawls, there are just some things that are just too shocking to look away.
If your curiosity is getting the better of you, here are a few more chilling examples of his work:
