Jenny From the Block made her Met Gala red carpet as co-chair of the of the event at New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art on May 6.
Jennifer Lopez shines in a Gown dripping with crystals and pearls at the 2024 Met Gala. Designed by Daniel Roseberry, the custom Schiaparelli haute couture piece had a dramatic sculptural neckline, whose branchlike elements jutted out to the sides. It was draped and slitted at the front with illusion tulle, and had a train that pooled around her feet.
The strapless sheath gown was made with over 2.5 million silver foil bugles and beads, and took over 800 hours of hand embroidery to create.
J.Lo paired it with silky champagne peep-toe heels, a massive diamond necklace in the shape of a bird, diamond bracelets and drop earrings, a silky envelope clutch, and a messy topknot.
The theme of the night is “The Garden of Time,” based on the art museum’s Costume Institute’s new exhibition, “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.” For the springtime occasion, Lopez wore blush makeup.
Husband Ben Affleck was not with Lopez on the red carpet, but his absence does not come as a surprise, as he did not accompany his wife to last year’s event either. (Admittedly, he is not one for the spotlight.) For the 2023 gala, which honored the late designer Karl Lagerfeld, Lopez wore a jaw-dropping custom silk velvet halterneck gown in powder pink and black, by Ralph Lauren. The extraordinary piece featured a rosette-embellished collar and a sweeping train. The superstar wore it with black silk evening gloves and a matching petite beret with sculptural tulle.
The “This Is Me … Now” singer also wore Ralph Lauren to the 2021 Met Gala. It was a rustic cowboy ensemble that included a plunging beaded dress with a super-high leg slit, a feather jacket, and, and coordinating cowgirl hat. Lopez paired the look with metallic silver strappy stilettos from her own DSW line.
