Earlier this month, speculations arose regarding a potential performance by Lady Gaga at the closing ceremony of this year’s Paris Olympics. Fans pointed out that Thomas Jolly, the artistic director for the opening and closing ceremonies, had recently started following Gaga on Instagram, as reported by French outlet Purepeople.

The closing ceremony serves as the grand finale of the Olympic games – a moment to celebrate culture, and achievements, giving viewers and Olympians alike a moment to reflect, with an estimated 4 billion viewers expected to watch.

A teaser for the event was shared on the Olympic Games’ social media platforms on July 11, announcing that “On 11 August, at the Stade de France, after two weeks of sporting excellence and festivities, Thomas Jolly invites you to a unique and exceptional show: « Records » 🌒 Get your tickets for the closing ceremony of the Olympic Games on tickets.paris2024.org (link in bio)

On Monday, paparazzi images surfaced showing Gaga and her long-term boyfriend, Michael Polansky, returning to their hotel in Paris, further fueling rumors about her potential involvement in the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Gaga has already begun teasing her new music, showcased through a mysterious snippet at the end of her concert special – “GAGA Chromatica Ball Tour”. At the end of the special, a flashy message appeared on viewers’ screens stating “LG7 GAGA RETURNS” with what appeared to be a snippet of new music with the lyrics “Dance in the shadow of the night”.

Celine Dion is expected to perform at the event’s opening ceremony, marking the pop icon’s first performance since the pause in her touring schedule and stepping back from stardom after being diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome in December 2022.

Dion is set to perform in front of The Eiffel Tower, as the opening ceremony is scheduled to unfold as a maritime parade along the Seine, concluding near the Trocadero with a view of the Eiffel Tower. This historic event, taking place outdoors for the first time, will highlight Paris’ most iconic sites and unite 3,500 actors, dancers, and musicians.
