Bridgerton season 3 star Nicola  Coughlan has come up with an unusual strategy to keep her parents from getting embarrassed by her sex scenes in the series. In an interview with  SiriusXM Hits 1 (via The Independent ), the actress said she demanded that Netflix make a “light version” of the new year, without nudity, so she could show it to her family.

“It’s literally written in my contract. People think I’m saying it as a joke. I just don’t. I grew up Irish Catholic. It’s just not our vibe ,” the actress explained.

The new season of  Bridgerton  will focus on the love story between Colin Luke Newton ) and Penelope ( Nicola Coughlan ) . Check out the official synopsis:

“ Penelope Featherington finally gives up on Colin Bridgerton after hearing the harsh words he said about her in the previous season. However, Penelope decides it’s time to get married, preferably to a man who will give her the independence she needs to continue her double life as Lady Whistledown, away from her mother and sisters.

But Penelope’s lack of confidence makes her wedding season adventure a complete failure. Colin, meanwhile, is back from his summer travels, looking fresh-faced and full of self-esteem. He notices that Penelope, the one person who ever liked him for who he really was, has started to treat him with indifference. Determined to win back her friendship, Colin offers to teach Penelope how to be more confident and find a husband. But the lessons start to work too well, and Colin becomes jealous. Does he really want to be just friends with her?

To complicate matters further, Penelope is on the outs with Eloise ( Claudia Jessie ), who has found an unexpected new friend . On top of that, her increased involvement in high society makes it even harder to hide her alter ego as Lady Whistledown.

Season four of “Bridgerton” is in the works, and will likely arrive in 2026. The next season will focus on Benedict Bridgerton’s love story. Yerin Ha will play Sophie Baek. Luke Newton and Nicola Coughlan will reprise their roles.

Production is currently underway at Shepperton Studios, which features a newly built backlot with replicas of Georgian and Regency architecture.
