Rapper Azealia Banks has escalated her feud with The 1975 frontman Matty Healy by issuing a cease-and-desist letter demanding a public apology and $1 million in damages. The legal action stems from a heated online exchange last week, where Healy allegedly made defamatory comments and threatened violence against Banks.

The dispute began when Banks criticized Charli XCX’s appearance on social media. Healy responded with a series of insulting and threatening posts, calling Banks a “rat” and vowing to “slap” her. Banks claims these comments caused her severe emotional distress, leading to physical symptoms that required hospital treatment.

In her cease-and-desist letter, Banks’ lawyer argues that Healy’s actions constitute defamation and intentional infliction of emotional distress. The letter demands that Healy immediately cease all further threats and defamatory statements against Banks. It also requires a public apology and payment of $1 million in damages to compensate for the harm caused.

Healy initially apologized for his comments on X but later deactivated his account. It remains to be seen whether he will respond to the legal action and comply with the demands of the cease-and-desist letter.
