In an exciting turn of events, the dynamic Ghanaian musical twins duo Lali x Lola have made waves by securing an impressive two nominations at the prestigious 26th Telecel Ghana Music Awards in 2025.

Their undeniable talent and growing influence have earned them well-deserved nods in the highly coveted categories of “Best New Artiste” and “Best Group of the Year.” This remarkable achievement comes on the heels of their passionate advocacy for the reinstatement of the “Group of the Year” category, which had been previously removed from the awards scheme.

Recognizing the immense value and contributions of music groups to Ghana’s thriving music scene, Lali x Lola took a bold stance and released a powerful statement on February 3, 2025.

In their compelling appeal, they eloquently highlighted the resurgence of talented and impactful music groups in Ghana, emphasizing their pivotal role in driving the industry forward with chart-topping hits, electrifying live performances, and a renewed spirit of collaboration.

“Over the past few years, there has been a significant resurgence of talented and impactful music groups in Ghana. These groups are making tremendous contributions to the growth of the industry, with chart-topping hits, compelling live performances, and a renewed sense of collaboration,” the statement said.

The statement underscored the significance of groups such as Dope Nation, Keche, Team Eternity, Bhad Mayors, and Lali x Lola themselves, as shining examples of the vibrant collective energy that propels the Ghanaian music landscape to new heights.

“Notable groups such as Dope Nation, Keche, Team Eternity, Bhad Mayors, and ourselves—Lali x Lola— are just a few examples of the vibrant collective energy driving the industry forward,” the statement added.

With their unwavering dedication to their craft and their commitment to championing the recognition of music groups, Lali x Lola have not only secured their own nominations but have also paved the way for a more inclusive and celebratory awards experience that acknowledges the diverse talents within the industry.

In 2022, Telecel Ghana Music Awards collapsed the Group of the Year from the list of categories. And the Head of Public Events and Communications for Charterhouse and a member of the board of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards scheme, Robert Klah, explained that the group of the year category was scrapped due to lack of competitiveness.
