Prime Video just dropped the official trailer for ‘The Pickup,’ and it’s already generating buzz. Packed with high-energy action, sharp comedy, and a star-studded cast, the film brings together veteran icon Eddie Murphy and comedic sensation Pete Davidson, alongside the dynamic Keke Palmer and Eva Longoria.
While the trailer doesn’t give everything away, ‘The Pickup’ looks to be a slick action-comedy with heist elements, centering around an unpredictable scheme that ropes in a wildly mismatched crew. Expect fast-paced sequences, laugh-out-loud moments, and Murphy’s classic charm at the forefront.
Directed by Tim Story, the filmmaker behind The Blackening, Barbershop and Ride Along, The Pickup sees a routine cash pickup take a wild turn when two mismatched armored truck drivers, Russell (Murphy) and Travis (Davidson), are ambushed by ruthless criminals led by a savvy mastermind, Zoe (Palmer), with plans that go way beyond the cash cargo. As chaos unfolds around them, the unlikely duo must navigate high-risk danger, clashing personalities, and one very bad day that keeps getting worse.
Eddie Murphy’s return to the screen always draws attention, and paired with Pete Davidson’s offbeat humor, there’s bound to be comedic gold. Keke Palmer continues to show her range with another powerhouse role, while Eva Longoria adds a layer of style and smarts to the mix.
Written by Kevin Burrows & Matt Mider, the film also stars Eva Longoria, Marshawn Lynch, Joe “Roman Reigns” Anoa’i, Andrew Dice Clay, and Ismael Cruz Córdova. Producers on the project included John Davis, John Fox, Murphy, Story, and Charisse Hewitt-Webster.

The Pickup will be available exclusively on Prime Video starting August 6, adding another high-profile title to the platform’s growing slate of original films.
