Emma Stone is turning heads—by shaving hers. The Oscar-winning actress has gone completely bald for her role in Yorgos Lanthimos’s upcoming dark comedy conspiracy thriller ‘Bugonia.’

In the newly released trailer, set against Chappell Roan’s breakout hit “Good Luck, Babe!”, Stone appears with a clean-shaven scalp alongside co-stars Jesse Plemons, Aidan Delbis, Stavros Halkias, and Alicia Silverstone. The film follows Stone as a powerful pharmaceutical CEO who gets abducted by conspiracy theorists—a role that required her boldest look yet.

Stone has been open about embracing the transformation. In a recent Vogue interview, she described the experience as liberating:

“The first shower when you’ve shaved your head? Oh my God, it’s amazing,” she said.

Although Stone kept the look under wraps during filming, she later admitted she regretted not showing off her bald head in public. By the time she appeared at the Golden Globes earlier this year, she had grown it into a sleek pixie cut—her first in years.

Co-star Jesse Plemons, who shaved Stone’s head during a pivotal scene in Bugonia, recalled the pressure of the moment:

“It was like, ‘Here we go—Emily has shaved her head,’” Plemons told Vogue. “We better make this good!”

The drastic transformation even sparked concern from her close friend and fellow Oscar winner, Jennifer Lawrence. Lawrence confessed she was hesitant at first, citing flashbacks to Stone’s short-cropped look for 2017’s Battle of the Sexes. But she admitted the end result won her over:

“Honestly, [Emma] looked beautiful. She pulled it off.”

With Lanthimos behind the camera and Stone once again fully committing to a daring role, Bugonia is shaping up to be one of the year’s most talked-about films—hair or no hair.
