Ice Spice Reimagines M.I.A.’s “Bad Girls” On New Single “Baddie Baddie”

The Bronx rapper revives the rebel spirit with her own new bop by flipping a 2012 M.I.A hit.

Ice Spice is back with another banger. As promised, the Bronx rapper dropped her new single Baddie Baddie on Friday, Sept. 26. Produced by her longtime collaborator RiotUSA, the track flips M.I.A.’s 2012 anthem Bad Girls into a bold, two-minute bop that blends nostalgia with Ice’s signature drill-infused flair.

From the jump, she wastes no time setting the tone. On the chorus, Ice spits:

“They said they wanted a bop? I was just poppin’ my s**t, I ain’t even really mean to go pop / He was just beggin’ to hit, I don’t be givin’ you n**gas a shot, I know he don’t want me for me, I know he just want what I got.”

The second verse sees her sliding in a clever Destiny’s Child reference:

“I’m feelin’ like Destiny’s Child, I need my bae to go get me a Kelly, and I back up a yacht, I’m still gettin’ paid off of ‘Deli.’”

She’s referring to her platinum 2023 hit “Deli” from the deluxe edition of her Like..? EP, proving she knows how to flex her past wins while keeping her bars fresh.

“Baddie Baddie” arrives as Ice Spice’s first official single since her 2024 project Y2K!, which was later expanded with Y2K!: I’m Just A Girl (Deluxe) in December. Earlier this month, she linked up with former rival Latto for “Gyatt,” complete with a visual directed by Hidji World.

Though details on her next full-length album remain under wraps, Ice has been everywhere lately. She graced the cover of NYLON magazine, starred in Spike Lee’s Highest 2 Lowest alongside A$AP Rocky and Denzel Washington, and was recently tapped for a new Kate Spade campaign. She’s also set to make her animated debut with a new song for The SpongeBob Movie: Search for Squarepants, hitting theaters in December 2025.
