Grammy-winning singer, songwriter, and actor Leon Thomas has officially announced his upcoming EP, ‘Pholks,’ with a dazzling new trailer starring Issa Rae.
The trailer, inspired by the classic Soul Train era, radiates retro soul and Black excellence. Issa Rae—dressed in a sultry mustard gown with glittering eyeshadow and voluminous curls—plays the charismatic host, introducing Thomas as “Soul Brother No. 1.” The nostalgic visual pays homage to the musical variety shows that once celebrated the heart of R&B and funk culture.
Known for his seamless transition from Nickelodeon fame to the R&B stage, Thomas continues to push creative boundaries. Pholks will feature seven new tracks, blending soulful grooves with his signature storytelling style. The project is set for release October 24 via EZMNY/Motown Records.
Fans can already stream the EP’s funky lead single, “Just How You Are,” now available on all digital platforms—just in time to build anticipation for Thomas’s upcoming ‘Mutts Don’t Heel‘ World tour, set to kick off later this month on October 30.
