Houston Police Chief Troy Finner previously confirmed there were more than 500 officers on site at the time of the “mass casualty” event, but said there were concerns that halting the show would intensify the disorder.

“You cannot just close when you got 50,000 and over 50,000 individuals,” he told the New York Times. “We have to worry about rioting, riots, when you have a group that’s that young.”

46 lawsuits have now been filed against the Astroworld planners over the deadly incident

According to Billboard, the cases, which accuse Travis Scott, Live Nation, ScoreMore and other organizers of negligence, began to be filed in Harris County District Court within hours of the incident.

The litigation over the deadly event — which left eight dead and scores more injured — could ultimately see hundreds of individual claims and that potential damages or settlements could reach hundreds of millions of dollars.

The public has placed the blame on everyone from Houston police officers to the concert promoters as well as Travis Scott, all of whom have been accused of failing to stop the event amid growing safety concerns.
