Amaarae is the Black Star — but on her new album, she’s bringing a whole galaxy with her.

The Ghanaian-American alt-pop trailblazer has officially revealed the full 13-track list for her highly anticipated new LP ‘Black Star,’ dropping this Friday, August 8. And she’s not coming alone. The project boasts a constellation of bold, genre-bending collaborators including PinkPantheress, Naomi Campbell, Bree Runway, Charlie Wilson, and Starkillers.

Rolling Stone broke the exclusive news, highlighting the album’s dynamic and unexpected lineup — a fitting move for an artist who’s made a name pushing sonic and cultural boundaries.

One standout from the tracklist is “Kiss Me Thru the Phone pt.2”, which features the UK’s hyperpop darling PinkPantheress. The title hints at a nostalgic nod to Soulja Boy’s 2008 hit — though it’s still unclear whether the track samples the original or simply borrows its name for a new take on digital love in the streaming age.

Another surprising feature? Supermodel and fashion icon Naomi Campbell, who lends her presence to the track “ms60”. Amaarae has always blurred lines between music, art, and fashion, so Campbell’s appearance feels like a natural — if thrilling — addition.

Then there’s “Starkilla”, a high-energy team-up with British-Ghanaian singer and rapper Bree Runway and American DJ and record producer Starkillers — a track that promises to deliver the futuristic, club-ready sound that fans have come to expect from Amaarae’s genre-blending style.

But this album isn’t just about features — it’s about roots. Amaarae has described Black Star as a sonic homecoming, spotlighting electronic music and re-centering its Black cultural origins. “It’s a genre that needs to go back home to its roots,” she said in a recent interview, referencing the deep African-American and diasporic history behind house, techno, and dance.

The album’s title itself — Black Star — is a layered statement: a triple entendre that nods to her own identity, the iconic Black Star on Ghana’s national flag, and the often-overlooked Black origins of electronic and dance music.

With the tracklist now public and buzz building around the record’s themes and features, Black Star is shaping up to be not just an album — but a movement. Amaarae isn’t just spotlighting dance music’s roots — she’s rewriting the rules of what the genre can look, sound, and feel like in 2025.
