Ava Max announced on social media this Wednesday the temporary cancellation of her highly anticipated ‘Don’t Click Play‘ tour, which was scheduled to kick off on September 3 in Los Angeles and tour several cities in the United States and Europe, including a stop in Madrid.
“Pushing back my tour is the most difficult decision I’ve ever had to make, but when I perform for you, it has to be of a standard that I’m happy with, and it’s just not there yet,” the American singer explained in a statement posted on Instagram. “In order to put on a show that you all deserve, I need more time,” she added.
What remains unchanged is the release of her third studio album, also titled “Don’t Click Play,” scheduled for August 22. The album will feature twelve songs, including the previously released singles “Lovin Myself,” “Lost Your Faith,” and “Wet, Hot American Dream,” the latter of which was released on July 2.
Although Max has made it clear that he intends to resume touring in the future, there is currently no official information regarding new dates, cities, or the process for obtaining tickets already purchased. This includes her only confirmed date in Spain: the November 19 concert at Live Las Ventas in Madrid, which remains up in the air for now.
Some fans have received the news with understanding, though not without concern. Many others hope the artist and her team will soon clarify the fate of the scheduled dates and refund policies, stating, “We’re not stupid; it’s clear the tour wasn’t pushed back, it was cancelled, and we all know the issue wasn’t about needing more time to prepare it. It feels like we’re being played with, and making up a last-minute excuse only makes it worse.”
Ava Max’s new track, “Wet, Hot American Dream,” reinforces the stylistic shift the singer has been consolidating at this stage of her career. It aligns with her upcoming album, which she herself has described as her “most intrepid” era yet. With her signature pop sound, the song stands out for its vibrant and contagious energy, ideal for igniting the summer season. The artist manages to capture the essence of summer, bringing freshness and dynamism to a musical offering that is increasingly solid and recognizable within the international pop scene.
The single is being produced by Pink Slip, a frequent collaborator with Ava Max in this new creative phase. As part of the project’s promotion, Ava Max will offer a special live performance during the Fourth of July celebrations in the United States, broadcast on NBC. This event will not only serve as a powerful platform for publicity but also as a meaningful experience for the singer.
