Spotify Expands Music Videos in Beta to Premium Users in the US and Canada

Spotify is bringing music videos closer to fans with a new beta rollout for Premium subscribers in the United States and Canada. The expansion gives users access to an initial catalog of official music videos, including studio versions, live performances, and covers, with more content expected to be added in the coming months.

The move builds on Spotify’s earlier rollout of music videos to nearly 100 markets last year, where user response highlighted the growing demand for visual content. According to a recent Burson survey, more than 70% of users believe additional video features would enhance their Spotify experience.

Premium users in the U.S. and Canada can watch videos across TV, desktop, iOS, and Android by selecting a supported track and tapping “Switch to video,” with playback continuing seamlessly from the audio version. Fans can also explore videos through artist profiles, curated playlists by genre or era, and related video sections.

Here’s how it works:

Spotify says music videos are proving to be a powerful tool for deepening fan engagement. Data shows listeners who discover a song through its music video are more likely to replay, save, or share it—and super listeners, in particular, significantly increase their streaming activity afterward.

Music videos now join features like Canvas, Clips, and Countdown Pages, reinforcing Spotify’s push to help artists connect with fans beyond audio alone. The company says the feature will be available to all Premium users in the U.S. and Canada by the end of the month.
