The “Originator” is officially back to reclaim his throne.
Reggae and Dancehall legend Samini has sent shockwaves through the music industry by unveiling the official tracklist for his highly anticipated eighth studio album, ‘ORIGIN8A.’ Scheduled for release this Thursday, February 12th, the project is being hailed as a “full circle” moment for the veteran artist.
The 16-track album isn’t just a solo effort; it’s a celebration of Samini’s massive influence on the African music scene. The tracklist confirms high-profile features from industry heavyweights and his own protégés, including: Stonebwoy; appearing on two tracks, including the title track, Mugeez of R2Bees, Kofi Kinaata, M.anifest, Kuami Eugene, Kaakie; marking a major return for the “Dancehall Queen”) Soweto Gospel Choir; featured on the lead single Chaana.
The album also boasts production and guest appearances from Smallgod and Mix Master Garzy, with Garzy reportedly producing the lion’s share of the project. The title ORIGIN8A (pronounced Originator) is deeply symbolic. Beyond being his eighth studio album, Samini explains that the number 8 represents an “8-ball” moment—a time of destiny, alignment, and completeness.
“This album represents my journey coming full circle,” Samini shared. “ORIGIN8A is about remembering where I come from, reconnecting with my roots, and celebrating the people who shaped my story.”
Fans can expect a rich, pan-African soundscape. The album reportedly weaves through Highlife, Reggae, African Dancehall [Afro-dancehal], Afrobeats, and even Amapiano, proving that even after two decades, Samini’s versatility remains unmatched.
ORIGIN8A is set to hit all major digital streaming platforms on Thursday, February 12th, 2026. Distributed globally by Prime Music Partners, the album is already available for pre-save.
