Summer is right around the corner, and Spotify just dropped its official 2026 Songs of Summer predictions! Among the global heavyweights, Ghanaian twin duo DopeNation has landed a massive spot on the list with their viral hit, “Kakalika”!
The Accra-born brothers, B2 and Twist, are officially being recognized as “Ghanapiano” pioneers, creating a brilliant, cross-cultural fusion of Ghanaian Azonto and South African Amapiano styles that has the entire world dancing.
If you’ve been scrolling through TikTok or watching sports lately, you already know this track is everywhere. “Kakalika” has transcended from dance challenges like the viral “Swengi Mame” trend straight into the sports world.
On the Pitch: Barcelona stars Lamine Yamal and Alejandro Balde hit the “Kakalika” dance to celebrate hitting the La Liga title, while PSG’s Achraf Hakimi joined in on the fun too!
Diplomatic Moves: Even the British High Commissioner to Ghana, Christian Rogg, was spotted doing the dance at an Premier League watch party.
Next Stop, World Cup? Fans are already starting a massive campaign to get DopeNation to perform the track at the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup opening ceremony!
Landing on Spotify’s curated list of 30 projected summer anthems puts DopeNation in some seriously elite company. They share the 2026 forecast alongside massive names like Ariana Grande, Drake, Olivia Rodrigo, Tems, and Zara Larsson.
“A song of the summer is about the vibes—a track that can connect across genres, people, and countries,” explained Talia Kraines, Spotify’s Editorial Lead for Pop. “Kakalika” is doing exactly that.
For the first time ever, Spotify is letting fans vote for their ultimate summer anthem directly inside the app. Make sure to head over to your Spotify app, check out the Songs of Summer playlist, and cast your vote!
