Shakira is officially winning—both in the charts and in the courtroom!
The 49-year-old global superstar just scored a monumental legal victory after a Spanish high court ordered the country’s tax authority to refund her a whopping €55 million ($64 million).
The court completely cleared the “Hips Don’t Lie” singer of tax fraud for the 2011 fiscal year. Prosecutors had alleged she owed money as a resident, but the court ruled they failed to prove she spent the legally required 183 days in Spain that year. It turns out, Shakira clocked in at 163 days—just 20 days short of the tax threshold!
The massive €55 million windfall includes her returned income tax plus the hefty fines authorities had tried to slap her with.
In a poignant statement, Shakira celebrated the verdict, revealing that the court had “finally set the record straight” after she endured eight years of “brutal public targeting” and sleepless nights.
However, the drama might not be entirely over just yet. The Spanish Treasury has already announced plans to appeal the decision to the Supreme Court.
Tax drama aside, Shakira is having an absolutely legendary year. Check out what she has coming up:

Epic World Tour: She is currently gearing up to wrap up her highly successful Women Don’t Cry Anymore world tour with a massive residency in Madrid starting this September.
